Augmented reality meets motorized zombie terror in this unique multiplayer Flash game. Player One is the Driver, a brave survivor of the undead apocalypse. Left with nothing but her classic muscle car, the Driver must protect the helpless VIP survivors from the marauding zombie hordes. Player Two is the Hellspawn and is in control of where the ghouls spawn into the play area.

It's a battle of positioning, timing and reflexes as the Driver does her best to mow down as many zombies and ghouls before the timer runs down. The Driver will taste defeat if she allows too many VIP casualties!

Our team drew a lot of attention with Carpocalypse: Route 666 for being the first VFS students to develop an augmented reality game in Flash. As the Front End Designer, it was up to me to build a menu interface that would allow the player to start a game as quickly and as easily as possible. I took the assets created by our lead artist and integrated them into an easy-to-use and visually striking interface.

I also scripted some visual effects for the Driver's muscle car, such as exhaust pipe smoke that unfortunately did not make it into the final build. We went through many iterations on our visual style and graphical detail in order to optimize the frame rate. We were pushing Flash to its limits and needed to squeeze every ounce of performance out of it to make Carpocalypse playable and fun.
